The Female Form - Part 1 by lubyelfears The Female Form - Part 1 by lubyelfears
NOTE: This method is the way I was taught in year 7 art at school; I am not stating that this is the right way, just the method that works for me. :D

Simply ages ago, :iconpromus-kaa: asked for a tutorial on drawing the female form.

This is the first half of the tutorial; the whole basic figure. I shall later be uploading one on the torso specifically.

I really hope it makes sense; I am not particularly good at explaining my methods. :ohnoes:

the height proportions are right but you made her a tiny bit too thin. the waist even on a spoon shaped woman cannot physically be half of the hips. she wouldnt be able to give birth. good for anime i guess...

Thanks very much for the constructive criticism! :aww:
This is a wee bit dated and I can spot several flaws with it now.

Thank you for uploading this. Proportions was my main problem in drawing. <3

Oh, lordy! My cousin loves Justin Bieber... :puke:

And I don't think your blokes look like teenagers! You draw a very manly Zevran. :P

Justine is like the 2010 version of the Hansan.

Remembered Hansen?

Let's wait a few year to see how this Justine kid turn out.

Makes sense to me! Maybe now I can draw my own characters instead of pestering my friends. Thanks!

I always use this head-measurement thing for proportions. Most of my ladies are six to seven heads tall. I like the style of this tutorial: short, sweet, to the point. I think you explained yourself very well!

GAH. THANK YOU.
I have so much trouble with drawing anatomy, especially the female form. I mean, not that I can draw well, but this will hopefully make my sketches look a little less dodgy. ;)

If only I'd seen this before posting my New Year's greeting, my deviation might not be quite so Lennon-esque. :giggle:

Then again...I never did draw very well.

Cool! I sincerely hope it does. :) I wasn't so sure if it'd make sense or not; I'm not very good at setting out my thoughts in words, unless it is a history or politics essay!

Thanks very much for the :+fav:; it's very encouraging! :D

You're very welcome. It's a nice tutorial because it is very simple--it definitly makes sense. And I've been needing to learn more solidly about this "heads" thing. XD

 I'm so glad; things are a mess up there in my old noggin!

I like the 'head' method since you always have a guide. It helps if things look a bit squiffy too! XD You can soon figure out whats gone wrong along the way.
