“Cadet Yao?”

“You knew him, Spock?”

“Briefly.  He sought me out two years ago, to aid him in his decision to enter Star Fleet.  After reviewing his qualifications I not only suggested he join, I also wrote him a letter of recommendation.”

“And he was mentally healthy at the time?”  Bones asked.

“Of course, I would not have recommended him otherwise.”

“How is life at the Academy for a Vulcan?”  Kirk asked.

“I do not understand.”

“Ninety-nine percent of the cadets and staff are human, it can't be easy for an alien.”

Extinction ch 6NOTE from the PHOENIX:  A kind reader was nice enough to remind me of Uhura's first name, which Spock really should be using when they are alone.  It was one of those things that I meant to look up (cause I didn't quite remember it from the movie) and I never did.  I'm so lazy.  Giggle.  So now I know it!  I will at some point go back and fix the previous chapter, but for now I'm just plowing ahead.

Kirk sat back in his seat and stared up at the ceiling in his quarters.  Weighing his options didn't seem to help.  Eventually he simply got up and wandered off into the hallway.  Making his way through the ship he quickly came to his First Officer's quarters.  Kirk swiped his hand across the plate that would announce that he was standing outside.

“Come.”  Spock replied from inside.

Kirk stepped into the room and glanced around at the odd mixture of Vulcan and African décor.  Spock was sitting at his desk with the fingertips of each hand gently touching one another, a sure sign that he had been deep in thoug

“Now then, don't you dare go down there, and hook up with some pretty young thing with pointed ears.”

“Hook up?”  Spock repeated confused.

“Never mind.”  Uhura chuckled.  “Just come back as soon as you can.”

“This should not take long.”

“Good.”  Uhura pushed herself up on her tip-toes and kissed Spock's cheek.  “I know it's silly, but I'm always nervous when you're on Natala.”

“Vulcans do not harm one another, even when we had lives to 'spare'.”

“I know, still...be careful.”

“Always.”

Four days after the wedding Spock was back at his place on the bridge.  Uhura was off duty at the moment and a young Midshipman was in her station.  Spock had come to his senses before she had caught him passed out on the bathroom floor.  Since he had been uninjured by the fall he had made the decision not to bother sick bay with the incident.

Recently, I have been watching repeats of the original Star Trek series on the Sci-Fi channel. On Tuesday, my family and I nestled down in front of the telly with our tea to watch Star Trek, expecting another exciting installment... Instead, we got to hear William Shatner doing an
'I-Talian' American impression for half an hour, the crowning instances being where he called Scotty 'sweetheart' and asked Bones what 'his beef' was... :rofl:

What follows is a comment on that particular episode, where the team are beamed down to a Mafia-ruled planet... (drawn in copics, text added with Photofiltre).

I apologise in advance for the rubbishy humour. :D

OMG that's the best episode evar! I remember how funny it was when Kirk was trying to talk like a mobster to Scotty, lolz.

A Piece of Action was one of my favourite episodes ever! Poor Spock, having to suffer both Kirk's driving and his terrible accent. XD The episode was made even better with Spock's own attempt at a Chicago accent.
